Where on Oahu can one attend classes in lauhala weaving?
Your best bet is probably the twice-monthly lauhala weaving class on the grounds of `Iolani Palace. Notes the palace website: \"On the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Ulana Me ka Lokomaika`i will demonstrate the cultural art of lauhala plaiting, popularly referred to as lauhala weaving. If you are in the neighborhood, or want to learn more about traditional arts, visit the Palace Barracks to talk with these artisans and get a glimpse into the perpetuation of this Hawaiian craft.\"
There was also a listing for \"Weaveworld\" in a recent edition of Honolulu Weekly. Describing itself as \"the new school of lauhala, weaving and fashion,\" they said they\'d take one hundred new students per month. Call (808) 924-0424 for more information. See Also:
