We are moving to Oahu, and my husband is hearing impaired. Do you know what areas of Oahu have deaf people? To be sure, there are deaf, blind, or otherwise differently abled people in every community. However, some neighborhoods are generally more prepared to accommodate people with disabilities than others, often due to a high concentration of elder care or other specialized facilities. One area that comes to mind is upper Nu`uanu, near Kuakini Hospital and north/mauka of downtown Honolulu. The neighborhood is home to a number of residential care homes, clinics, and service providers. Area businesses and facilities put a stronger-than-average emphasis on accessibility and visibility, and I\'ve seen street signs in the area specifically warning motorists of white-cane pedestrians. I\'d encourage you to contact Ho`opono
